We only care about saving animals. We understand all groups must work together to save these pets! We want to serve as a hub for the animal welfare community. We believe through leadership, networking and resource development we will make great strides in the humane treatment of animals in Western North Carolina.  We also understand if we are to succeed, we need you and we need your help.

Foster families are needed for cats and dogs. Food, medical care and other supplies will be provided by The Animal Rescue of WNC. Foster families must apply for and be approved to house pets. Foster homes must make reasonable efforts to ensure pets are available to attend adoption events and to meet with potential adopters at other times.

TARWNC will do all we can to find forever homes for our pets. We will partner with local pet stores and attend every adoption event possible! Our adoption fee is $50 for felines and $75 for canines. We often run adoption specials. Regardless of the adoption fee, all adopters must meet all eligibility requirements.

While TARWNC has maintained some facets of a traditional animal rescue using foster home placements, planning transports, adoption events, etc. to save animals, they have also been busy developing a unique information gathering system called PIC (population, intake and census.) TARWNC hopes to collect population, intake and census data from all animal shelters located in the 23 counties comprising WNC on a weekly basis. The sharing of information by the shelters is purely voluntary. But there are have high hopes every organization will participate. The data can be submitted quickly and easily once a week via a single email. The data will be analyzed and formulated into a report that will be used as a blueprint to focus the group’s efforts and resources to save more adoptable animals. The PIC report will also be shared with all area groups for their use as well..
